Cheryl Black

Cheryl leads the talented team at YouTech as CEO. She joined the company as Chief Operating Officer in 2007 to run engineering, product management, and customer-facing capabilities. Within a few short months, Cheryl saw an opportunity to pioneer digital offers as a scalable line of business, evolving the company into what it is today – the industry leader.

Cheryl’s early career as a professional ballet dancer helped shape her sense of discipline and prepared her for the uncertainty of a career in tech. After ballet, Cheryl launched her tech career in the 1980s as a software engineer at Cullinet, a leading database provider. Cheryl has also held leadership positions in a number of technology organizations, including Digital Equipment Corporation and Capgemini. Cheryl caught the startup bug in 1999 when she moved to San Francisco and cofounded a company in a rented house with 55 employees. She later joined Cariocas, an early competitor to YouTech, as VP of Product and Services in 2001.

Cheryl studied computer systems at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and earned an MBA degree from Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.
